Mr. ilendy, father of Mr. Roy Hendy, former Town Clerk of Sydney, blew out the 98 candles on the cake presented to him by the nursing staff of Royal North Shore Hospital.
Asked what it felt like to he 98, Mr. Heady laughed and said: "I'm starting to feel as though I'm getting a little old. "At ore time they used to say that when a man was 90 they ought to get rid of him, but I don't think that's very fair." A keen golfer for 40 :s ears, he played his last game at the age of 90.
Mr. Hendy was born in Kent, England, and came to Australia at the age of 21. He was a Railway Department employee for about 40 years before he retired at 65.
